BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets are on the ice, one of 16 total games in the National Hockey League scheduled tonight. All 32 teams are in action tonight, including inside KeyBank Center.
The Blue Jackets scored first thanks to a fortunate bounce in the offensive zone. Yegor Chinakhov was able to collect the loose ouck by the half wall and used a deke move on Alex Lyon to beat the goaltender and give Columbus a 1-0 advantage.
Buffalo did not record their first shot on goal until after the halfway point of the first period. The team was credited with seven shots on goal in the first, including several on a late power play chance in the opening period. Columbus was able to record 15 shots in the first, as well.
