From the moment the offseason began conversations around the Dallas Cowboys have been on the defensive side of the ball.
Christian Parker was hired to serve as the group’s newest coordinator to turn things around. Moves have been made to date like trading for Rashan Gary, signing Jalen Thompson, and signing Cobie Durant to give him pieces to work with.
As important as those things are, the most premium assets at the Cowboys’ disposal will not be utilized until the NFL draft. Dallas holds the 12th and 20th overall picks and it has long stood to reason that they will be spent on the defensive side of the ball.
What if they go offense, though? Could they? They can’t, right?
The beauty of the NFL draft is that you never know what you are going to get in terms of how the board is going to fall. CeeDee Lamb was thought to be an impossibility in the first round at 17 overall back in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In the spirit of hypotheticals – what would it take for you to feel comfortable with the Cowboys doing this, at either 12 or 20?
