NHL Status Report: Kakko could make season debut for Kraken

Seattle Kraken

Kaapo Kakko could make his season debut for the Kraken against the New York Rangers on Saturday (10 p.m. ET; KHN, KONG, MSG). The forward, who sustained a broken hand during a preseason game, took regular line rushes alongside Mason Marchment and Shane Wright at the morning skate and was on the second power-play unit. “[He just has] a lot of skill, a lot of offensive talent, with the way he plays with the puck, and [the way] he’s making plays,” Wright said. “He’s a really talented offensive guy and really good to have back in the lineup.” Acquired by Seattle in a trade with New York on Dec. 19, Kakko had 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 49 games last season following the trade.
