Security video of Owen Sound Attack captain David Bedkowski losing his grip on a four iron at a North Bay golf simulator has been making the rounds on social media.

The Owen Sound Attack were in North Bay over Thanksgiving to take on the Battalion Monday afternoon. On Sunday night, they hit up The Clubhouse, Gateway Golf LTD., for a meal and some team bonding.
Bedkowski said picking at poultry and a penchant for perspiration were to blame for breaking the bond between himself and his golf club.
“I’m just a pretty sweaty guy,” Bedkowski said after the Owen Sound Attack beat the Barrie Colts 6-0 Wednesday evening, part of a four-game winning streak for the club. “It was just a bad combination of sweaty hands and chicken juice. I went for a hard swing with the four iron, and it just slipped right out at the end of my swing.”
The video shows the golf club flying high overhead as Bedkowski and nearby teammates duck for cover. Someone can be heard uttering a rather sassy “oh, my lord,” as laughter erupts.

Bedkowski, while laughing and looking somewhat bewildered, begins rubbing his hands off on his shirt.
Los Angeles Kings prospect Carter George was seated at a nearby table when it all happened.
“I was the only one from my table who actually saw the club go flying,” he said. “I was looking at a TV, and then I just saw a club go flying into the kitchen. Then, all the guys were ducking and laughing, and I thought, what the hell just happened right now?”
“All of the guys were asking me what happened, and I said, ‘Well, Bedsy just threw a club into the kitchen,’” George said.
The edited security video footage humorously switches over to another angle, looking over the establishment’s kitchen. A clanking noise can be heard before the staff immediately moves to investigate the area near a large pizza oven.

The four iron somehow managed to land under the pizza oven and between another bank of conventional ovens. It’s retrieved by a staff member who passes it on to Clubhouse co-owner Louis Landry, who looks it over rather nonchalantly.
Landry’s wife and Clubhouse co-owner Jill Dupuis said it’s not the first time a patron lost their grip, but it is the first time a club ended up in the kitchen.
“We didn’t really know what happened until we came over and inspected and saw the dent in the wall,” Dupuis said. “It was comical from the start. Especially with the kids’ reactions to what happened. That kind of put it over the top.”
Bedkowski said staff quickly shared the security footage with the team for another round of laughter, and asked them all if it was OK to share the footage on social media. Bedkowski, who is both good at sports and a good sport, obliged.

“They were great. Luckily, nothing was broken, and they were super cool about it,” said the Buffalo Sabres prospect.
The video was picked up and shared by Bardown to their 200,000-plus followers on X.

Dupuis said that, according to their social media stats, the video has been watched over 500,000 times, in addition to Bardown’s viewership.
Bedkowski said many people reached out, and the jokes have become pretty repetitive.
“People think I haven’t seen it, but believe me, I’ve seen it,” he said.
The Owen Sound Attack finished the evening on the virtual links, and Bedkowski even got back into the wheelhouse for another round.
“I said I was done, but luckily, we have a good group of guys who encouraged me to get out there and finish the night. It was a ton of fun,” he said.

George wasn’t sure if the team had declared a winner for the night, but he noted that Nicholas Sykora, who already has eight goals in his first 10 Ontario Hockey League games, likely had the best score.
“He’s hot right now.”
Dupuis and Landry have owned the simulation golf business since July 2024. They have a community partnership with the Battalion, and visiting OHL teams often stop by if they’ve got some time.
“If they come in for dinner with us, we offer the two hours of golf for free team bonding. The boys can come in and enjoy the place privately. They can just come in, relax, golf, eat, and then go to their game the next day,” Dupuis said. “As you can see, it’s a lot of fun.”
The Owen Sound Attack are expected back next year, and Dupuis said the staff have been joking about having Bedkowski autograph an area next to the gouge taken out of the drywall.
“We love having them as a group, they’re absolutely wonderful,” Dupuis said.
